Student Therapy – Summer Semester 2021

It’s been 601 days since Lidia had a hemorrhagic stroke. Things sure have changed since she was brought home from the hospital.

Lidia came home from the hospital without the ability to walk. She was confined to a wheelchair with paralysis on her right side. We take every opportunity to work on her walking and physical therapy.

If you are like us, your insurance may have denied some stroke treatment, so we look for every opportunity to get some good sessions of PT in. We volunteer up at the university to help students get experience with patients that have suffered from a brain injury and need assistance with physical therapy.

We were sent home from this session of physical therapy with some homework of additional sit-to-stands, weight-bearing on her right arm, and walking like a speed skater shifting weight onto her affected side in an exaggerated way.

A big thanks goes out to the students who have helped us along the way and we will continue to look for other ways to volunteer and participate in helping others with their stroke recovery.
